Housing:
Q: How much will renting an apartment cost me?
A: A Bachelor Apartment is $843.00 monthly. A one bedroom apartment is $1108.00 monthly.
Q: What is the waiting time for a room?
A: It takes 2-4 years for your to get a room in Bracondale at market rent. It takes ten years to get a room in subsidized housing.
Are your facilities accessible?
A: You would apply for RGI through Housing Connections. The waiting list for RGI is around 10 years.
Q: What is the annual increase in rent?
A: We follow the City of Toronto Guidelines based on the Ontario Consumer Price Index (CPI). In 2020, the increase was 2.2%.
Programs and Meals:
Do I have to pay a membership fee to participate in the programs at Bracondale House?
A membership is not required. You simply have to be 59 years of age or better. We encourage regular program participants to purchase an annual membership for a nominal fee. Our government funders consider how many members we have in our organization when deciding the amount of funding we receive.
Are community members allowed to attend our meal program?
Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 virus we no longer serve meals in the dining room.
Q: How do I apply for Rent Generated towards Income (RGI) at St. Matthew’s Bracondale House?
Yes. All of our program spaces are accessible. We are committed to diversity and social inclusion, and to providing environments that are accessible for everyone. Reducing barriers to participation is extremely important to us, and we encourage you to contact us with any questions you may have.
What if I’m not sure what class would be suitable for me?
No problem. Stop by our main office and let us know which class you would like to try for free. If it’s suitable for you, then come back to the office to register for the class.
How do I get to St. Matthew’s Bracondale House?
Travelling by car: We have limited on-site parking. Travel South on Christie St. from St. Clair Ave. W. Turn right on Ellsworth Ave. Turn right on the concrete driveway. Buzz the gate. Enter the parking lot. Buzz the rear door. A staff member will buzz you in. Upon entering the building, speak with a staff member at the main office.
Travelling by TTC: Take the subway to St. Clair Ave. W. subway station. Take the Westbound 512 streetcar 4 stops. Get out at Christie Street. Walk to the 7 storey red brick apartment building. Buzz 133. The main office is beside the main doors.
